From jobs and careers to social and relational challenges occur in every aspect of life. It is always important to remember that challenges do not come to stay. It is not possible to be defeated by any challenge when you know that you can overcome it. No challenge that you ever face will be able to defeat you if you approach it as if you are undefeatable. It does not mean that you will never be fired, never experience set back or loss, but what it does mean is that whatever comes your way you are well able to not only cope with it but to overcome it.
Overcoming a challenge and coping with a challenge are two entirely different things. Coping with something means that you have resigned yourself to dealing with it whether dealing with it is healthy or unhealthy. On the other hand overcoming something means that you either remove it, correct it, or push it to the side. For example, coping with a bully means that you avoid going to the areas where you may face the bully, succumb to the bully, or complain about the bullying without directly challenging the bullying behavior. This is not only counterproductive it oftentimes heightens the same behavior that you may be trying to avoid. In this same scenario overcoming this issue would require facing the bully and making it clear that you will not tolerate the behavior, remove the person's ability to bully (moving to another department, reporting them to someone with higher authority with the intention of not only complaining, but with the intention of having the person reprimanded, or ignoring them). Bullies thrive on the attention that they receive from their behavior. When you ignore it and swat it off of you like you would a gnat the impact that they are seeking will be lost.
Triumphing over challenges requires facing them not merely ducking and dodging real issues. A mind set on overcoming will always allow for the attainment of personal and professional goals. Nothing will hinder you if you decide before the challenge arises that you will overcome it.
